WHY ZERO WASTE?

WHY ZERO WASTE?

Plastic. That's where it all began.

Single use plastics are a rampant epidemic of our time. The more we opened our eyes, the more It felt like we couldn’t escape it. Mainstream media outlets remind us daily of the consequences. Less than 10% of all plastic gets recycled, while the remaining is left to break down (into toxic micro-plastics) over tens of centuries.

We believe that humans are capable of solutions that will change the industry. Governments and corporations have the power to stop the perpetuation of this toxic cycle but the question is “when”?

What happens NOW? For now, this is our solution. We are a grassroots mission lead by heart and a deep sense of urgency to begin somewhere while the big guys get their acts together.

Reduce. Reuse. Refill.

Repeat.

MORE THAN JUST PLASTIC

MORE THAN JUST PLASTIC

As we began researching and sourcing zero-waste products, we realized that we couldn’t turn a blind eye to equally or more critical social and environmental issues that our planet faces at this time. Carbon emissions. Animal cruelty. Global labour standards. Unsustainable food systems. Local economic integrity. Our goal is to source products that, when you purchase them, will contribute to improvement in all of these areas.

We aren’t perfect but we work hard to balance or offset our impact. Our bulk food sometimes comes in a big plastic bag but we pay to have it melted down and turned into something that will last 20-30 years. Your avocados come from Mexico but they support an organic farmer who wouldn’t otherwise have a market to support her family. Carbon emitting trucks deliver some of our products but that product’s journey originated in Canada rather than internationally. We have learned the value of being flexible to keep  the planet’s best interest and yours at heart.

It doesn't stop with plastic.
